Lights by Dreamworks - The Experience

The Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism Board are pleased to confirm the announcement of Lights by Dreamworks - The Experience is coming on to the Mornington Peninsula opening in March 2017! Opening March 25, ending April 30 2017.

We have been working closely with Showtime Attractions and through the State Government's Regional Events Fund have been able to secure this event; to make it's Australasian debut right here on the Peninsula!

The event is expected to attract a significant influx of visitors to the Region. We have been working with the promoter to engage strategies that will encourage people to come see the event, stay and participate in other activities the Mornington Peninsula has to offer.

Appointment of Councillor Representative - Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism Board

Mayor, Cr. Bev Colomb, Cr. Rosie Clark, Cr. David Gill and Cr. Anotella Celi have been appointed as Council's representatives to the Mornington Peninsula Regional Tourism Board at Council meeting 28 November 2016.

Cr. Rosie Clark and Cr. David Gill will represent Council for the first 6 months and Mayor, Cr Bev Colomb and Cr. Antonella Celi will represent Council for the second 6 months for the ensuing twelve months.

‘No entertainment - No nonsense’ for a family-friendly New Year’s Eve

Mornington Peninsula Shire will again take a ‘No Entertainment - No Nonsense’ approach to New Year’s Eve on the southern peninsula, working in partnership with a community-based steering committee, Police, residents and businesses to reduce negative impacts of celebrations in the area.

Declaration of the Fire Danger Period from Monday 19 December 2016

CFA have declared that the Fire Danger Period will commence on Monday 19 December 2016. CFA have advised that the restrictions on the lighting of fires as provided under the Country Fire Authority Act 1958 will be imposed in the Mornington Peninsula Shire from:

0100 hours on Monday 19 December, 2016 until 0100 hours on Monday 1 May, 2017

(unless extended or curtailed in the meantime)


CFA declare the Fire Danger Period at the onset of warmer weather to help prevent fires from starting as dry vegetation and hot weather increase the incidence of fires accidentally starting and spreading.  

  • No fires in the open air are allowed during this time without a permit
  • Please be advised that during the declared Fire Danger Period, the Shire’s Open Air Burning Local Law does not apply and cannot be enforced
  • Suspected illegal burning off during the declared Fire Danger Period should be reported to Police on Triple Zero

Sustainability Victoria Business - Energy Efficient Capability Grants

Sustainability Victoria is calling for expressions of interest (EOI)  from industry associations, business networks and registered training organisations interested in a Boosting Productivity Energy Efficiency Capability Grant.

Grants of up to $150,000 are available to help organisations to establish projects that build the energy efficiency capability of small and medium sized enterprises or service providers.

The EOI is an opportunity for you to receive feedback on your project idea. By exception only, project teams may proceed straight to the full application stage. If you think this might be the case for your project, please contact us.
