With more than 40 volunteers (Tourism Ambassadors) working at the Mornington Peninsula Visitor Information Centre; there is always a lot happening. Our Tourism Ambassadors are locals passionate about the Mornington Peninsula. They love helping visitors discover the hidden secrets of out region. They donate their time to help in the Visitor Centres at least 4 hours every week and have a wealth of knowledge.
The volunteers undertake comprehensive training to enhance their product knowledge. A great way to help the Tourism Ambassadors learn about your business is to invite them to include your property as part of one of the regular "familiarisations" (famils). This includes a program of excursions undertaken over the year to "familiarise" the V-Team with the MPT member businesses in the local area.
Between 10 and 25 volunteers attend each familiarisation. This enables them to better explain to visitors what exactly they will experience at that member business. Each "famil" day includes stops at a number of businesses.
To get the most out of your involvement it is recommended that you make sure that someone meets the groups and is able to give a small talk about what you do and what the visitor can experience when they come to your property. Also include the answers to frequently asked questions, so that the Ambassadors can also utilise this information when dealing with enquiries.
Only MPT Member businesses are included in the "Ambassador famils program". If your business is interested in hosting an Ambassador famil, please email Ebony Flett so we can include your business in the program.
