End of Fire Danger Period - Monday 23 March 2015

The Declared Fire Danger Period for the Mornington Peninsula Shire will end on Monday 23 March 2015 at 0100 hours.

From this time onwards, all residents should refer to the General Purposes Local Law (Part 7 – Open Air Burning) for rules and restrictions relating to burning off.

Notice of the termination of fire restrictions will also be given in local papers, on the Mornington Peninsula Shire website Fire and Emergency Management page (as of Monday) and by Government Gazette.

Arthurs Seat Skylight

Plans for the new gondola chairlift at Arthurs Seat have been approved at the June 1st MP Shire Council meeting.

The multimillion-dollar "skylift" will follow the same route as the original chairlift, which closed down several years ago. But the top-most station of the new lifts would be closer to the summit.

The ride will operate seven days a week and the trip will take about 40 minutes. The gondolas will be able to seat between six and eight people and can even accommodate a wheel chair.
